Mountains to Climb
I am starting this blog as I start another journey in my life. For the last several years I have spent most of my waking hours, and some others, being consumed with how to help bring the next generation of online gaming to kids. As Knowledge Adventure’s Vice President Operations my responsibilities included the design and implementation of a community development strategy utilizing a variety of social media tools. I was joined in this process by an exceptional group of individuals who helped guide the strategy and ensure that the brand entered social networking channels as a contributing voice to the existing dialogue. Together we built the foundation of a social media effort that has started to bring the JumpStart brand to a new generation of Moms and their children.
I am lucky to of had this opportunity!
Everything changed on Monday when Knowledge Adventure announced a round of lay-offs, in which I was included. I could say I was surprised, but I really wasn’t. I was however deeply disappointed that my opportunity to work with the exceptional team that we had assembled had come to an end. People are the key ingredient in any business and I have always especially enjoyed working with individuals just beginning their careers. So much can be accomplished when everyone is included and we don’t care who gets credit.
So now I move on to new and unknown opportunities. The future has never been more exciting. I look backwards only to remember these wonderful people and to find a new challenge where perhaps the team can be reassembled so we can climb a mountain together.
